About the estate
The Weingut Frauenkopf AG estate manages eight hectares of vineyards in steep, terraced locations by Lake Biel between Tüscherz, Twann, Ligerz, and La Neuveville. The history of the winery dates back to 1816, when Jakob Engel founded the estate in a house that still stands today. Today, the winery is led by Rahel and Nick Bösiger, who practice biodynamic agriculture and are Demeter certified. The estate's name originates from the Frauenkapf, a vineyard above Twann that once belonged to Cistercian nuns. The wines are crafted in harmony with nature, reflecting the terroir-driven handcraft of the region.
