About the estate

The Brenneis-Koch estate is managed by the winemakers and biologists Matthias Koch and Verena Suratny in the Palatinate region. Across approximately 7 hectares of vineyards in Bad Dürkheim, Leistadt, Kallstadt, and Ellerstadt, the winery cultivates classic Palatinate varieties, white Burgundies, red varieties such as Merlot and Syrah, as well as specialties like Viognier and Nebbiolo. Vineyard management emphasizes careful soil cultivation, cover cropping, intensive canopy management, and yield reduction. The grapes are harvested by hand in multiple passes and processed gently in the cellar. Winemaking techniques include whole-bunch pressing, skin contact, or open-vat fermentation for red wines.
