About the estate
The Terre des Chardons estate was founded in 1983 in Bellegarde by the Chardon family, who originated from the Loire Valley. In 1999, Jérôme Chardon began planting nine hectares of vineyards, which have been cultivated according to biodynamic principles and certified by Demeter since the very first harvest. Shaped by a Mediterranean climate and siliceous pebble soils, the vineyard grows grape varieties such as Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Clairette. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, followed by traditional vinification using native yeasts and aging in tanks. The wines are produced under designations including Costières de Nîmes and Clairette de Bellegarde.
