About the estate
Founded in the 1930s, the family-owned Tenuta Castello di Morcote is situated on a promontory surrounded by Lake Lugano in Ticino. Today, the estate is managed by the fourth generation following organic and biodynamic agricultural practices. The vineyard area includes steep terraced plots with porphyry and quartzite soils as well as vineyards in the Mendrisiotto region. Cultivated grape varieties include Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc under the Ticino DOC denomination. In the modern, solar-powered winery, the grapes are processed with minimal intervention to authentically express the character of the regional terroir.
The eno directory lists 9 wines, mostly from Chardonnay and Merlot. The estate sells to horeca.
