About the estate
Located in Hammelburg in Franconia, Schäfers Weingut was founded in 1995 by Klaus Schäfer, who turned his passion for winemaking into his profession after completing training as a winemaker. In the meantime, the younger generation led by son Thomas has taken over the management of the family estate, while daughter Julia and Karin Schäfer are also firmly integrated into the business. All grapes of the winery grow in the Hammelburger Trautlestal, where grape varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Domina are cultivated among others. The wines present themselves as authentic, mostly dry, and Franconian, with some of the whites and reds aged in barrique. The cohesion and continuous development of the family have been recognized by awards in Eichelmann.
