About the estate
The Kloster am Spitz estate in Purbach am Lake Neusiedl looks back on a family winemaking tradition and has been managed by Thomas Schwarz since 2005. The vineyards are situated on the slopes of the Leitha Mountains on soils rich in shell limestone, featuring Blaufränkisch vines that are up to sixty years old. The winery is cultivated organically, and in the cellar, any use of synthetic aids, selected yeasts, and barrique barrels is entirely avoided. The wines undergo spontaneous fermentation in large casks and have been marketed as Landwein since 2016. Maturation partly takes place in a historic stone cellar that is approximately three hundred years old.
The eno directory lists 19 wines, mostly from Blaufränkisch and Pinot Noir.
