The Cantine Viola winery is located in Saracena in the heart of the Pollino National Park in Calabria and was founded in 1975 by Luigi Viola. The family has made it their mission to save the traditional passito wine Moscato di Saracena from extinction and to refine it through scientific research based on oral traditions. In addition to the renowned flagship wine, the portfolio also includes production from native grape varieties such as Raspato, Rinni, Rosso Viola, and Bianco Margherita. The production process is characterized by traditional methods such as boiling the must and the careful hand-selection of the dried grapes. The estate's wines are distributed throughout Italy as well as in selected European countries including Austria, Germany, and Great Britain.
