About the estate

Cantina Malena is a traditional winery based in Cirò Marina, Calabria, which was founded in 1908 by Cataldo Malena and is now managed in the fourth generation. The estate cultivates 33 hectares of vineyards in prime locations across the municipalities of Cirò, Cirò Marina, Melissa, and Strongoli with a focus on native grape varieties. Vineyard management follows sustainable practices without the use of herbicides or systemic pesticides, and many tasks are performed manually. In the modern winery in Cirò Marina, vinification involves hand harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and aging designed to reflect the identity of the terroir. The production includes wines from the Cirò DOC denomination among others.
