About the estate
The Cantina Mongalli estate is situated on the picturesque hills of Umbria between the municipalities of Bevagna and Montefalco on the grounds of the historic Villa Mongalli, which was acquired by the Menghini family in 1999. Covering a vineyard area of 15 hectares, the estate primarily cultivates Sagrantino alongside Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Gamay, and Trebbiano. The vineyards benefit from clay soils with a significant siliceous skeleton, an optimal south to south-westerly exposure, and an altitude ranging between 360 and 400 meters. Harvesting is conducted with careful selection of the clusters, followed by natural fermentation without the addition of selected yeasts. In the cellar, modern technologies are utilized alongside French oak barriques for aging.
The eno directory lists 8 wines, mostly from Sagrantino and Trebbiano.
