About the estate
Founded in 1959, the Weinschmiede family estate in Salgesch, Valais, is managed by the brothers Reinhard and Christian Schmid. The vineyard plots extend across steep slopes with dry-stone walls as well as the sun-drenched sites of Martinyery and Hölle. Alongside the regional stronghold of Pinot Noir, the winemakers cultivate grape varieties such as Chasselas, Johannisberg, Gamay, Cornalin, Syrah, and the rare Walliser Landroter. Operating under the standards of Integrated Production, AOC Valais, and the Bio Suisse Bud, the winery crafts distinctive wines exclusively from family-owned grapes. The cellar and vineyard managers place great emphasis on traditional craftsmanship and sustainable cultivation.
