About the estate

The Van Volxem estate in Wiltingen on the Saar river looks back on a long history dating back to a Roman villa and a former monastery winery. After four generations in the family, Roman Niewodniczanski took over the property in the year 2000 and expanded the portfolio to include renowned steep slate vineyards along the Saar. Covering an area of about twelve hectares, the winery cultivates steep vineyards with predominantly old, ungrafted Riesling vines. Through meticulous manual labor and natural methods, long-lived wines of great complexity are produced.

The eno directory lists 18 wines, mostly from Riesling and Pinot Blanc.
