About the estate

The Schmidheiny estate in the Lower Rhine Valley is run in the third generation and looks back on a long wine culture. In the vineyards not far from Lake Constance, Burgundy varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as Räuschling are cultivated on an area of five hectares. Under the direction of oenologist Andreas Stössel, characterful terroir wines such as the single-vineyard Chardonnay Hümpeler from calcareous conglomerate terraces are produced. The work in the vineyard is characterised by conscious parcel qualification, careful foliage management and the ideal harvesting time. The portfolio includes wines that combine traditional winemaking with contemporary oenology.
