About the estate

The Sternberg family wine estate, operated by the Egger family in Wernberg, Carinthia, farms nearly six hectares of vineyards according to organic and biodynamic principles. The winery was established in 2009 after traditional viticulture at Sternberg was revived by planting a small initial vineyard. The vineyard management relies on natural methods, including the application of organic compost and herbal teas, alongside a strict policy of manual harvesting. In the cellar, the winemaking process features extended skin contact, maturation in clay amphorae and wooden casks, and in some cases, multi-year bottle aging. The wines are distributed directly from the winery, through the online shop, and via selected restaurants and retailers.

The eno directory lists 14 wines, mostly from Sauvignon Blanc and Zweigelt. The estate sells to retail and horeca.
