About the estate
The traditional Schmid winery in Gobelsburg in the Kamptal region was founded in 1940 and is currently run by the third and fourth generation of the family. Across a vineyard area of approximately 18 hectares, the estate cultivates the regional flagship varieties Grüner Veltliner and Riesling alongside Gelber Muskateller, Pinot Blanc, Blauer Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate places a strong emphasis on sustainable cultivation without herbicides and insecticides, complemented by certified vegan wine production. In the cellar, the harvested grapes are processed gently and matured either in stainless steel tanks or large wooden barrels. Distribution takes place via direct farm sales as well as through selected specialist shops and wine stores.
The eno directory lists 5 wines, mostly from Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate sells to retail and horeca. Export markets include Germany.
