About the estate
The Schabel winery in Prottes looks back on a traditional history dating back to the mid-19th century, passing on knowledge of viticulture from generation to generation. Cultivating ten hectares of vineyards in the Weinviertel region, the family-run estate manages sites in the Matzner Hügel area as well as various single vineyards. White wines account for eighty percent of production, featuring the flagship variety Grüner Veltliner alongside Müller Thurgau, Yellow Muscat, Rhine Riesling, Welschriesling, and Pinot Blanc, while the remaining twenty percent consists of the red varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger, and Blaufränkisch. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and gently processed in the estate's own cellar using temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
The eno directory lists 4 wines, mostly from Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc.
