About the estate
The Sancaba estate was founded in 2011 by Carlo Franchetti in Tuscany near San Casciano dei Bagni after he discovered an existing Pinot Noir vineyard there. The vineyards are situated at altitudes between 650 and 750 meters in a mountain climate shaped by surrounding peaks with significant temperature variations. Soils consist predominantly of Galestro and Alberese rock alongside alluvial patches near the river beds. Certified organic farming practices have been used since 2016, with biodynamic methods introduced in 2020. Alongside Pinot Noir, the winery also produces wine from Grechetto grapes planted for the Sancaba Bianco.
