About the estate

The Pedra Cancela - Vinhos do Dão, Lda estate in the Portuguese Dão region emerged from a project initiated over 20 years ago by the family of João Paulo Gouveia. The operation has its origins in the family vineyards of Oliveira de Barreiros in Viseu, where terroir and tradition form the foundation. Today, the project is shaped by the combination of João Paulo Gouveia's viticultural experience and Sónia Martins's oenological expertise. With new vineyard plantings such as Vinha da Fidalga in Carregal do Sal, the winery focuses on traditional, in some cases nearly extinct grape varieties and distinctive terroir wines. The wines are positioned for international distribution, combining regional identity with finesse.
