About the estate
The Mazza estate was founded in 1954 by Domenico Mazza and Maria Craia, who purchased the Podere di Montelupo in Castellina in Chianti in Tuscany. Today, the winery is run as a family business by Massimo and Roberto representing the third generation. The estate encompasses approximately 24 hectares of vineyards situated at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level on clayey and calcareous soils containing sand and marine fossils. Cultivated red grape varieties include Sangiovese as the basis for Chianti Classico DOCG alongside Canaiolo, Colorino, Ciliegiolo, Alicante Bouchet, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while white varieties are dominated by Trebbiano Toscano, Vermentino, Chardonnay, and Ansonica.
