About the estate

The Mario Costa estate in Canale, Piedmont, manages around 20 hectares of vineyards arranged in natural amphitheaters between Canale and Montà. Run as a family business across four generations, the winery has been producing wines since 1952 while honoring the traditions of the Roero region. The vineyards primarily feature sandy marl soils of marine origin with high permeability. Cultivated grape varieties include Barbera, Nebbiolo, Arneis, Favorita, Viognier, and Merlot. Farming practices focus on sustainability and integrated pest management, complemented by manual vineyard tasks such as hand pruning and harvesting.
