About the estate

The historic Kirnbauer estate is based in Deutschkreutz in the Mittelburgenland region and has been run as a family business for several generations. Covering about 15 hectares of vineyards in sites such as Mitterberg, Siglos, Fabian, Steinriegel and Weisses Kreuz, the winery works with very old vine populations. The predominantly heavy, calcareous loam and loess soils offer ideal conditions for viticulture. The main focus is on the Blaufränkisch grape variety, complemented by Zweigelt, St. Laurent, international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, as well as white wines like Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling. In the cellar, the winery relies on patience, careful handling of resources and the deliberate omission of the unnecessary to produce clear, terroir-driven wines.
