About the estate
The Domaine Philippe Gilbert estate looks back on a tradition dating back to 1768 to the reign of Louis XV, when François Gilbert took over the vineyards. Today, Philippe Gilbert cultivates the thirty hectares of vineyards in the Menetou-Salon appellation in central France according to the principles of organic farming and biodynamics. The vines grow on sedimentary Kimmeridgian soils of marl and limestone characterized by fossilized oyster shells, which impart a pronounced minerality to the wines. The grape varieties grown are Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, producing fresh and elegant wines. The artisanal work of the estate is grounded in centuries of winemaking tradition in Berry.
The eno directory lists 2 wines, mostly from Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The estate sells to retail.
