About the estate
The Domaine des Coteaux d'Engravies estate was founded in 1998 by Claire and Philippe Babin as part of the revival of winemaking in Ariège, and has been managed by Thomas Piquemal since 2014. The property covers ten hectares of vineyards in Vira, all farmed organically since the beginning. The plots are distributed across terraces, foothills, and clay-limestone hillsides featuring pudding soils at altitudes between 350 and 450 meters. The cultivated grape varieties include Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as chenin and viognier. The wines for the Ariège IGP denomination are crafted through organic farming, controlled yields, and traditional vinification methods respecting the local terroir.
