Clos de Pougette

About the estate

The Clos de Pougette estate is located in Cournou within the Lot department and is managed by Pierre Benac in the fifth generation. Winegrowing on the property dates back to around 1880, while the current company structure was established in 1998. The estate spans 22 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly with Malbec, Merlot, Tanat, and Chenin. Farming is conducted entirely according to organic agriculture standards on the stony limestone and red clay soils of the Lot causses as well as terraces in Douelle. A distinctive feature of the winery is the use of Kunekune pigs for grazing and maintenance between the vine rows.
