About the estate

The Classisches Weingut Hoffranzen is a traditional family estate located in Mehring on the Mosel, tracing its history back to 1601 and currently managed in the seventeenth generation. The exclusively owned vineyards are situated in steep and slate-steep slopes such as Mehringer Blattenberg and Detzemer Maximiner Klosterlay, characterized by Devonschiefer soils. The grape variety portfolio primarily features Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Müller-Thurgau. Cultivation is carried out conventionally and close to nature with meticulous manual labor and selective hand-harvesting for fully ripe grapes. In the cellar, the healthy grapes are gently processed into complex wines.

The eno directory lists 45 wines, mostly from Riesling and Pinot Noir. The estate sells to horeca and retail.
