About the estate

Based in Visp in the Valais, the family-owned Chanton Weine estate has been cultivating rare grape varieties and authentic Valais wines in the third generation since 1944. The winery became particularly well known for its pioneering work in reviving long-forgotten grape varieties such as Himbertscha, Gwäss, Eyholzer Roter, and Plantscher during the 1980s. Josef-Marie Chanton previously led the winery to success with his visions before his son Mario Chanton took over as managing director in 2008. Today, the estate continues to shape the region's winemaking heritage through the cultivation of rare vines on steep slopes.
