About the estate
The Castello Romitorio estate in Montalcino was founded in 1984 by Sandro Chia and is managed today in the second generation by Filippo Chia. On the hills surrounding the property, the founder planted the oldest Sangiovese clones of the territory, which still make up about half of the vineyard area today. The vineyards develop at altitudes ranging from 200 to 400 meters above sea level. The team cultivates the various plots with great meticulousness and produces wines under the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, and Toscana IGT denominations.
The eno directory lists 10 wines, mostly from Sangiovese and Syrah.
