About the estate
The Castello Di Magione estate is situated in Umbria near Lake Trasimeno and traces its documented history back to 1171. The historic buildings belong to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and formerly served as a pilgrim hospice as well as the site of historical political gatherings. The vineyards extend on the surrounding hills at altitudes between 250 and 350 meters. Grape varieties such as Grechetto, Sangiovese, and Pinot Nero thrive here to produce wines under the Colli del Trasimeno DOC and Umbria IGT denominations. The red wines mature in barrels and barriques within the ancient cellar vaults of the property.
The eno directory lists 9 wines, mostly from Grechetto and Sangiovese.
