About the estate

The BARON WIDMANN – CORTACCIA estate is located in a historic family building in the center of Cortaccia in South Tyrol, with parts dating back to the Gothic period. The property was acquired by an ancestor in 1783, and the family branch settled at the estate in 1905. The vineyards range in altitude from 220 to 610 meters and feature diverse soil types across sites such as Nockerisch, Auhof, and Sulzhof. The cultivation includes traditional varieties like Vernatsch alongside Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Beginning in the 1960s, the traditional pergola training system was progressively converted to the Guyot system for most varieties.

The eno directory lists 12 wines, mostly from Petit Manseng and Pinot Blanc. The estate sells to retail.
