About the estate
The Angélique Léon estate is located in Savigny-en-Véron in the western part of the Chinon appellation at the confluence of the Loire and Vienne rivers. Founded in 2002, the winery cultivates 6.7 hectares of vineyards on sand and gravel soils in the plain as well as on the clay-limestone slopes of Le Clos de Danzay. The sole grape variety grown is Cabernet Franc, which is used to produce predominantly red wines and a small proportion of rosé wines. The estate has been converting to organic farming since 2018 and consistently avoids the use of chemical weed killers. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by fermentation with indigenous yeasts and aging in cement tanks for about ten months.
