About the estate

The Weingut Richard Richter estate, located in Winningen on the Mosel, looks back on a history that began in 1838 with the founding of a wine merchant business by Carl Friedrich Richter. Today, the winery is managed by the Thomas and Claus-Martin Richter families in the sixth generation. Cultivating 17.4 hectares of vineyards, the estate farms steep slate sites such as the Winninger Uhlen, which have been terraced through centuries of human labor. The primary focus is on the cultivation of Riesling, produced dry as Großes Gewächs according to the strict criteria of the Bernkastel Ring. Operational practices include selective hand-harvesting, meticulous manual labor in the steep slopes, and careful cellar work geared toward longevity.
