About the estate
The Melsheimer estate in Reil on the Moselle has been run by the family for six generations. The ecological cultivation and development of steep and very steep slopes is a central focus of the winery, which has operated organically since 1995 and has been Demeter certified since 2013. Around half of the vineyard area consists of these steep sites, where almost exclusively Riesling is grown. Using traditional methods, the estate produces delicate, highly aromatic wines as well as excellent sparkling wines. The vineyards include plots in the historic Reiler Mullay-Hofberg site with its lean slate soils.
