About the estate

The Hitziger winery is situated in Bad Bergzabern along the German Wine Route and is managed by the fourth generation of the family, Stefan Hitziger. The graduate engineer for viticulture and oenology cultivates sunny hillside vineyards characterized by mineral-rich and calcareous variegated sandstone soils. Over 20 different grape varieties are grown, including Riesling, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. Operations feature controlled environmentally friendly management, natural pest control, and manual harvesting for late harvest and selection wines. In the cellar, the wines are matured in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks or barrique barrels depending on the wine style.
