About the estate

The Weingut Hammel GmbH estate has been managed in Kirchheim an the Wine Route in the Palatinate since 1723 and is currently run by the ninth generation of the family. The vineyards are situated around the municipality, where changing soils consisting of sand, marl, clay, loam, and limestone provide an optimal foundation. Approximately sixty percent of the vineyard area is planted with white grape varieties such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and classic Burgundy varieties, with the remainder dedicated to red grapes and fungus-resistant PIWI varieties. The white wines are crafted to be fresh and fruit-forward, whereas the red wines undergo traditional mash fermentation and are predominantly aged in wooden casks.
