About the estate

Established in 1880, the Weingut Dr. Wagner estate is managed in the fifth generation by the Wagner family along the Saar river. The winery cultivates steep slate sites such as Saarburger Rausch, Saarburger Kupp, Ockfener Bockstein, and the monopole Saarburger Laurentiusberg featuring old, partly ungrafted Riesling vines. Vineyard management relies heavily on manual labor, traditional single-stake training, avoidance of herbicides, and selective hand-harvesting. Vinification of the wines and sparkling wines takes place entirely in traditional Fuder oak casks within the historical cellar. Alongside elegant Riesling wines, the estate has been producing the first Saar Riesling sparkling wine since the early 20th century.
