About the estate

The Birmelin estate was founded in 1995 in the wine-growing village of Leiselheim in the Kaiserstuhl region and is operated as a family business. The vineyard soils are characterized by mineral weathered volcanic rock and fertile loess. The winery cultivates its plots in harmony with nature, plants cover crops to promote biodiversity, and relies on the manual harvesting of all grapes. In the cellar, gentle processing without pumps and slow, aroma-preserving fermentation are employed. The portfolio includes traditional grape varieties such as Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, and Pinot Noir, alongside fungus-resistant PIWI varieties.
