About the estate

The family-run estate WeinGut Benedict Loosen Erben cultivates steep slopes with a gradient of up to 68 degrees in Ürzig on the Moselle. The winery predominantly grows own-rooted Riesling vines with small, loose-berried grapes using traditional single-stake training. Farming is carried out close to nature and largely by hand on soils consisting of red slate, Hunsrück slate, rhyolite, Rotliegend conglomerate, and fire sandstone. In the cellar, the wines undergo spontaneous fermentation and are aged vegan. The stately patrician house, built in 1786, serves as the seat of the estate.
