About the estate
The Weinbau Trutmann estate was founded in 1984 when Anton Josef Trutmann planted the first Pinot Noir plot in Stein am Rhein. Today, the family-run winery cultivates 2.5 hectares of vineyards featuring predominantly old vines on steep slopes along the southern slope of the Hohenklingen. The vineyard sites with their calcareous gravel, sand, clay, and conglomerate soils provide ideal conditions for grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Müller Thurgau, Chardonnay, and the native Räuschling variety. The estate practices a sustainable, herbicide-free approach to viticulture in harmony with the local flora and fauna, combining traditional knowledge with modern insights. Since 2020, Alexander Florian Trutmann has managed the winery's operations in active partnership with his family members.
