About the estate

The Spitalkellerei estate looks back on a long history that began in 1225 with the re-establishment of the hospital foundation in Constance. Today, the two owners and a young team cultivate around 20 hectares of vineyards on the slopes of Lake Constance, which include sites such as the Konstanzer Sonnenhalde and the Meersburger Haltnau. The portfolio features classic grape varieties such as Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc, from which traditional and modern wines as well as sparkling wines and spirits are produced. The winemakers rely on quality-conscious cultivation involving a high degree of manual labor and exclusively hand-harvested grapes. The historic vaulted cellars at the entrance to the old town serve as the location for the maturation and aging of the wines.
