About the estate
Established in 2020, the family-run Silkstone Vineyard is situated in the hamlet of Cawthorpe outside Bourne, Lincolnshire. The estate operates in a location that is among the driest and lowest-lying in England. The focus rests entirely on the Bacchus grape variety, with vines arranged in twenty rows to maximise sun exposure and allow natural breeze circulation. Vinification is carried out by the specialist contract winemaker Haygrove Evolution. The grapes are harvested by hand through a community effort involving local volunteers, neighbours and friends.
