About the estate

The family-run estate Schnabel Karl is located on the Sausal inselberg in South Styria and cultivates a vineyard area of five hectares. Organic farming has been practiced on the Ermihof for generations, and the traditional winery has been managed by Karl and Eva Schnabel since 1998, with the support of their three sons. In both the vineyard and the cellar, conventional methods, the addition of sulfur, additives, as well as chemical and technical manipulation are consistently avoided. The estate produces living natural wines shaped by the barren Sausal soils featuring silicate primary rock in slate form.
