About the estate
The family-run Schmitt Privat-Weingut estate is located in Bergtheim in the Franconia region and has been managed for generations by Anja Schmitt-Kraiß and Frank Kraiß. The vineyards are situated in locations such as Thüngersheim am Main, Handthal, and Bergtheim, where the vines grow on soils composed of shell limestone, gypsum keuper, as well as keuper and loess loam. The portfolio includes grape varieties such as Silvaner, Scheurebe, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Domina, and Blue Silvaner. The flagship of the estate is Silvaner, which is complemented by a diverse range of grape varieties and traditionally produced Franconian Federweißer. Distribution takes place via the estate's own online shop as well as directly at the on-site wine shop.
