About the estate
The Sassotondo estate manages a total area of about 12 hectares in Tuscany between the municipalities of Sorano and Pitigliano. The vineyards are located on the foothills of the Bolsena volcanic basin, where tufa is the defining element of the landscape and the soil. The winery has been operating organically since 1994 and produces wines under denominations such as Bianco di Pitigliano, Sovana, and Maremma Toscana DOC. The vineyards are divided into nine hectares of red grape varieties including Ciliegiolo, Sangiovese, Teroldego, and Merlot, and three hectares of white grape varieties.
The eno directory lists 13 wines, mostly from Sangiovese and Merlot.
