About the estate
The Le Mortelle estate is situated in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma in Italy and has been managed by the Antinori family since 1999. The property encompasses a total of 270 hectares of land, with 175 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The primary grape varieties cultivated are Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, alongside recent plantings of white varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, and Viognier, as well as a small amount of Carménère. The soils are medium-textured, sandy, silty, and predominantly siliceous-clayey in composition. The modern winery was built largely underground into a hillside to carry out the winemaking process entirely by gravity without the use of pumps.
