About the estate
The Fernão Pó Adega winery is located in the wine-growing village of Fernando Pó within the municipality of Palmela, uniting the wine traditions of the Freitas and Palhoças families. The estate was founded in the 1950s by Aníbal da Silva Freitas, who launched the first proprietary brand wine in 1990 alongside his son-in-law. The vineyards cover 70 hectares on soft sandy soils over a layer of clay, situated in a microclimate tempered by the Tagus and Sado rivers. The estate cultivates various red and white grape varieties across these parcels, with Castelão as the region's primary red variety alongside Moscatel de Setúbal. Today, the winery produces approximately 660,000 liters of wine annually.
The eno directory lists 15 wines, mostly from Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
