Domaine du Blanc Caillou

About the estate

The Domaine du Blanc Caillou estate originated from a recultivation project by the historic limestone quarry Calcaires de la Sambre along the Sambre river. A vineyard was established on the south-facing slope of a redeveloped earthen mound, managed in cooperation with local residents and under expert guidance. The initiative results from a collaboration between the quarry director and a local enthusiast of viticulture and vinification. The project combines the promotion of local biodiversity with the communal cultivation of vines and subsequent wine production.
