About the estate

The Domaine de la Ville Rouge estate is situated in the Rhône Valley in the commune of Mercurol, encompassing twenty hectares of vineyards. Founded in 1919 by Paul Girard, the property is currently managed as a family business by Sébastien and Audrey Girard, representing the fourth generation. The vineyards are cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, holding organic certification since 2012 and Biodyvin biodynamic certification since 2018. Harvesting and natural vinification take place on-site, utilizing soils composed of rolled pebble terraces, red clay, and clayey hills. The grape variety portfolio includes Syrah, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Chardonnay, Marselan, and Pinot Noir, producing wines within the Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Collines Rhodaniennes, and Drôme denominations.
