Contucci

About the estate

The Contucci estate looks back on a long history, with the family already cultivating vines in the eleventh century and contributing significantly to the fame of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The estate covers one hundred seventy hectares of land, with a portion planted exclusively with native grape varieties such as Prugnolo Gentile, Canaiolo nero, and Mammolo. Great emphasis is placed on environmental protection during agricultural operations, and harvesting is done entirely by hand in boxes. In the historic cellars spanning three levels, the wines mature in oak barrels, concrete vats, and steel tanks. The annual production comprises approximately one hundred thousand bottles.

The eno directory lists 8 wines, mostly from Sangiovese and Canaiolo Nero. The estate sells to importers and horeca. Export markets include Austria, Belgium, Germany and United Kingdom.
