About the estate
The historic Château Sigognac estate is located in Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc on a terroir situated between the ocean and the Gironde estuary. Acquired and restructured in 2009 by Christophe Allard, the property covers 45 hectares of contiguous vineyards with an average vine age of 40 years. The clay-limestone soils provide ideal conditions primarily for Merlot, which is complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon for tannic structure and Petit Verdot for freshness. Cellar master Laurent Touret, who joined the team in 2011, crafts the wines of the AOC Médoc denomination in consultation with the Boissenot oenological consultancy. In the vineyard, Fabrice Clostres implements sustainable farming practices to preserve the environment.
The eno directory lists 4 wines, mostly from Merlot.
