About the estate

The Champagne Michel Hoerter estate is run as a family business across four generations in Essômes-sur-Marne in the heart of the western Marne Valley. The origins of the winery trace back to the founder Joseph, followed by Maurice, Michel, and today great-grandson Jean-Philippe alongside his wife Valérie. Cultivating a vineyard area of nine hectares with an average vine age of forty years, the estate grows Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The vineyard soils consist of silty-clay-limestone on the upper slopes and silty-clay-sandy soils at the bottom. The winery has practiced sustainable viticulture for over twenty years.
