About the estate

The Bioweingut Schober estate in Gaweinstal has been run as a family business since 1822 and has been certified both organic and sustainable Austria since 2021. The vineyards are located in the eastern Weinviertel around Gaweinstal, with the main site at Schrickerberg characterized by deep loess soils. The focus is on the regional Grüner Veltliner as well as various other white and red grape varieties, which are processed gently and aged partly in large wooden barrels or barriques. The winery is operated across generations, with the current manager being a graduate of the Federal College for Viticulture and Pomology in Klosterneuburg.

The eno directory lists 9 wines, mostly from Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt. The estate sells to horeca and retail. Export markets include Germany, Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia.
